ANCIENT FIRES
During this one day course students will gain experience and understanding creating fire from various primitive ignition methods including percussion and friction.
Students will work with a variety of natural materials learning how to make effective tinder bundles and hone their observational skills in locating and sourcing tinder from the local environment.
Part of the day will be dedicated to processing tinder fungi to create a fantastic fire lighting material known as amadou. Other variants of suitable fungi and tinder will also be gathered, discussed, and processed.
During the course students should expect to cover the following:
Environmental considerations and fire lays
Tinder fungi processing
Charred tinder
Percussion fire lighting (flint and pyrite / flint and steel)
Friction fire lighting (hand drill / bow drill)
Slow matches from fungi
Creating tinder bundles
Courses run with a maximum of 8 people to ensure sufficient attention and guidance is given to individuals when needed.

Children 16+ must be accompanied by a paying Adult
